Nehemías, 7

1. Reconstruida la muralla, y una vez que hube fijado las hojas de las puertas, se colocaron guardias en las puertas (cantores y levitas).

1. Now when the wall had been built and I had set up the doors, and the gatekeepers, the singers, and the Levites had been appointed,

2. Puse al frente de Jerusalén a mi hermano Jananí y a Jananías, jefe de la ciudadela, porque era un hombre fiel y temeroso de Dios como pocos;

2. I gave my brother Hana'ni and Hanani'ah the governor of the castle charge over Jerusalem, for he was a more faithful and God-fearing man than many.

3. y les dije: «No se abrirán las puertas de Jerusalén hasta que el sol comience a calentar; y cuando todavía esté alto, se cerrarán y se echarán las barras a las puertas; y se establecerán puestos de guardia de entre los habitantes de Jerusalén, unos en su puesto y otros delante de su casa.»

3. And I said to them, "Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot; and while they are still standing guard let them shut and bar the doors. Appoint guards from among the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each to his station and each opposite his own house."

4. La ciudad era espaciosa y grande, pero tenía muy poca población y no se fundaban nuevas familias.

4. The city was wide and large, but the people within it were few and no houses had been built.

5. Me puso Dios en el corazón reunir a los notables, a los consejeros y al pueblo, para hacer el registro genealógico. Hallé el registro genealógico de los que habían venido al principio, y encontré escrito en él:

5. Then God put it into my mind to assemble the nobles and the officials and the people to be enrolled by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of those who came up at the first, and I found written in it:

6. Estas son las personas de la provincia que regresaron del cautiverio, aquellos que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, había deportado y que volvieron a Jerusalén y Judea, cada uno a su ciudad.

6. These were the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of those exiles whom Nebuchadnez'zar the king of Babylon had carried into exile; they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each to his town.

7. Vinieron con Zorobabel, Josué, Nehemías, Azarías, Raamías, Najamaní, Mardoqueo, Bilsán, Mispéret, Bigvay, Nejum y Baaná. Lista de los hombres del pueblo de Israel:

60. All the temple servants and the sons of Solomon's servants were three hundred and ninety-two.

61. Y estos eran los que venían de Tel Mélaj, Tel Jarsá, Kerub, Addón e Immer, y que no pudieron probar si su familia y su estirpe eran de origen israelita:

61. The following were those who came up from Tel-me'lah, Tel-har'sha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not prove their fathers' houses nor their descent, whether they belonged to Israel:

65. y el Gobernador les prohibió comer de las cosas sacratísimas hasta que no se presentara un sacerdote para el Urim y el Tummim.

65. the governor told them that they were not to partake of the most holy food, until a priest with Urim and Thummim should arise.

66. La asamblea ascendía a 42.360 personas,

66. The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

67. sin contar sus siervos y siervas en número de 7.337; tenían también 245 cantores y cantoras.

67. besides their menservants and maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred and forty-five singers, male and female.

70. Now some of the heads of fathers' houses gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury a thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.

71. Lo que entregó el resto del pueblo ascendía a 20.000 dracmas de oro, 2.000 minas de plata y 67 túnicas sacerdotales.

71. And some of the heads of fathers' houses gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold and two thousand two hundred minas of silver.

72. Los sacerdotes, los levitas, los porteros, los cantores, los donados y todos los demás israelitas se establecieron en sus ciudades. Llegado el mes séptimo,

72. And what the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, two thousand minas of silver, and sixty-seven priests' garments.

73. So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel, lived in their towns. And when the seventh month had come, the children of Israel were in their towns.
