Judith, 8

1. Now at that time Judith heard thereof, which was the daughter of Merari, the son of Ox, the son of Joseph, the son of Ozel, the son of Elcia, the son of Ananias, the son of Gedeon, the son of Raphaim, the son of Acitho, the son of Eliu, the son of Eliab, the son of Nathanael, the son of Samael, the son of Salasadal, the son of Israel.

Judite 8 describes how Judith convinced the elders of her city to allow her to leave the city gates to surrender to the Assyrians. She used her wisdom and eloquence to persuade them that this was the only way to save the city. Then she went to the Assyrian camp, where General Holofernes deceived and cut her head, bringing the victory to Israel. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Judite 8:

Proverbs 16:32: "Better is the Longanic than the brave, and the one who rules his spirit than what a city takes." This verse emphasizes the importance of self -control, a quality that Judith demonstrated in carefully planning and executing his plan with patience and skill.
