Isaiah 23 contains a prophecy against the city of Tire, which is condemned for its arrogance and greed. The city will be destroyed and its inhabitants taken captive. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:
Ezekiel 26:3 - "Therefore, thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I am against you, O shot, and I will make many nations go up against you, as the sea makes your waves up." This verse reinforces the message that God is condemning shot for his arrogance and that the city will be attacked by several nations.
Amos 1:9 - "Thus says the Lord, For three shot transgressions, and for four I will not remove the punishment, because they have given all the captives to Edom, and did not remember the brothers' covenant." This verse mentions the Tire Covenant with Israel, which may have contributed to its fall.
Zechariah 9:3 - "Tire built to Sí Fortaleza, and heeded silver as dust, and gold like mud of the streets." This verse highlights the greed of shooting and its search for wealth and power.
Jeremiah 25:22 - "And to all kings of shooting, and to all the kings of Sidon, and to the kings of the lands that are beyond the sea." This verse shows that shot was not the only city to be attacked and conquered, but that other cities also suffered the consequences of their arrogance and greed.
Revelation 18:21 - "And a strong angel lifted a stone like a large mill, and threw it into the sea, saying, With equal momentum will be launched Babylon, that great city, and will never be found." This verse refers to the fall of Babylon, but can be applied to the fall of shooting and other cities that were destroyed because of its arrogance and sin.
