12. Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
Chapter 22 of 1 Chronicles describes David's preparation for the construction of God's temple in Jerusalem, and how he gathered the materials necessary for the work. David explains Solomon, his son and successor, that he was chosen by God to build the temple and encourages him to complete the work. Here are five verses related to the themes of this chapter:
1 Kings 5:5 - "And behold, I set out to build a house to the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord said to David my Father, saying, Your Son, which I will put in your place in your throne, He will build a house to mine name." This verse shows how Solomon fulfills David's prophecy and builds the temple.
1 Chronicles 22:11-12 - "Behold, a child will be born to you, who will be a man of rest, because I will give him rest of all his enemies around; for Solomon will be his name, and in his days I will give peace And quiet to Israel. He will build a house by my name, and He shall be my Son, and I will be Father; and shall establish the throne of his kingdom upon Israel forever. " This verse shows how God has chosen Solomon to build the temple and how He will be blessed.
1 Chronicles 22:16 - "Of gold, silver, and copper, and of iron there is no account. So get up, and do the work; and the Lord be with you." This verse shows how David encourages Solomon to complete the work and that God will be with him.
1 Chronicles 22:19 - "Now, therefore, order for me to do with me wooden cutters in the mountains of Lebanon; and I will put people in number with you, stone cutters and carpenters, to do all sorts of work . " This verse shows how David gathered the materials needed to build the temple, including wood and stone cutters and carpenters.
2 Chronicles 2:4-5-"Behold, I will build a house to the name of the Lord my God, to consecrate it, to burn the aromatic incense before him, to put the bread of continuous proposition over it, and to offer holocaustos In the morning and in the afternoon, on Saturdays, on the new moons, and in the feasts of the Lord our God; which is perpetually ordered in Israel. " This verse shows how Solomon completed the work of building the temple and how it will be used for worship of God.
