Mark, 5

1. And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

1. Ja he tulivat toiselle puolelle järveä gerasalaisten alueelle.

2. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

2. Ja kohta kun hän lähti venheestä, tuli häntä vastaan haudoista mies, joka oli saastaisen hengen vallassa.

3. Who had [his] dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

3. Hän asusti haudoissa, eikä kukaan enää voinut häntä kahleillakaan sitoa;

4. Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any [man] tame him.

4. sillä hän oli monta kertaa ollut sidottuna jalkanuoriin ja kahleisiin, mutta oli särkenyt kahleet ja katkonut jalkanuorat, eikä kukaan kyennyt häntä hillitsemään.

5. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

5. Ja hän oleskeli aina, yötä ja päivää, haudoissa ja vuorilla, huutaen ja runnellen itseään kivillä.

6. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

6. Kun hän kaukaa näki Jeesuksen, juoksi hän ja kumartui maahan hänen eteensä

7. And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, [thou] Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

7. ja huutaen suurella äänellä sanoi: "Mitä sinulla on minun kanssani tekemistä, Jeesus, Jumalan, Korkeimman, Poika? Minä vannotan sinua Jumalan kautta, älä vaivaa minua."

8. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, [thou] unclean spirit.

8. Sillä hän oli sanomaisillaan sille: "Lähde ulos miehestä, sinä saastainen henki."

9. And he asked him, What [is] thy name? And he answered, saying, My name [is] Legion: for we are many.

9. Ja Jeesus kysyi siltä: "Mikä on nimesi?" Niin se sanoi hänelle: "Legio on minun nimeni, sillä meitä on monta."

10. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

10. Ja se pyysi pyytämällä häntä, ettei hän lähettäisi niitä pois siitä seudusta.

11. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

11. Niin siellä oli lähellä vuorta suuri sikalauma laitumella.

12. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

12. Ja ne pyysivät häntä sanoen: "Lähetä meidät sikoihin, että menisimme niihin."

13. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

13. Ja hän antoi niille luvan. Niin saastaiset henget lähtivät miehestä ja menivät sikoihin. Silloin lauma, noin kaksituhatta sikaa, syöksyi jyrkännettä alas järveen; ja ne hukkuivat järveen.

14. And they that fed the swine fled, and told [it] in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

14. Ja niiden paimentajat pakenivat ja kertoivat siitä kaupungissa ja maataloissa. Ja kansa lähti katsomaan, mitä oli tapahtunut.

15. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

15. Ja he tulivat Jeesuksen luo ja näkivät riivatun, jossa legio oli ollut, istuvan puettuna ja täydessä ymmärryksessään; ja he peljästyivät.

16. And they that saw [it] told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and [also] concerning the swine.

16. Näille kertoivat näkijät, mitä oli tapahtunut riivatulle ja kuinka sikojen oli käynyt.

17. And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

17. Ja he alkoivat pyytää häntä poistumaan heidän alueeltaan.

18. And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.

18. Ja hänen astuessaan venheeseen se riivattuna ollut pyysi häneltä saada olla hänen kanssaan.

19. Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

19. Mutta hän ei sitä sallinut, vaan sanoi hänelle: "Mene kotiisi omaistesi luo ja kerro heille, kuinka suuria tekoja Herra on sinulle tehnyt ja kuinka hän on sinua armahtanut."

20. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all [men] did marvel.

20. Niin hän lähti ja rupesi Dekapolin alueella julistamaan, kuinka suuria tekoja Jeesus oli hänelle tehnyt; ja kaikki ihmettelivät.

21. And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

21. Kun Jeesus oli venheellä kulkenut takaisin toiselle puolelle, kokoontui paljon kansaa hänen luoksensa, ja hän oli järven rannalla.

22. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

22. Niin tuli muuan synagoogan esimies, nimeltä Jairus, ja lankesi hänet nähdessään hänen jalkojensa juureen,

23. And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: [I pray thee], come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

23. pyysi häntä hartaasti ja sanoi: "Pieni tyttäreni on kuolemaisillaan; tule ja pane kätesi hänen päällensä, että hän tulisi terveeksi ja jäisi eloon."

24. And [Jesus] went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

24. Niin hän lähti hänen kanssansa. Ja häntä seurasi suuri kansan paljous, ja he tunkeutuivat hänen ympärilleen.

25. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

25. Ja siellä oli nainen, joka oli sairastanut verenjuoksua kaksitoista vuotta

26. And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

26. ja paljon kärsinyt monen lääkärin käsissä ja kuluttanut kaiken omaisuutensa saamatta mitään apua, pikemminkin käyden huonommaksi.

27. When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

27. Tämä oli kuullut Jeesuksesta ja tuli kansanjoukossa takaapäin ja koski hänen vaippaansa;

28. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

28. sillä hän sanoi: "Kunhan vain saan koskettaa edes hänen vaatteitaan, niin tulen terveeksi."

29. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in [her] body that she was healed of that plague.

29. Ja heti hänen verensä lähde kuivui, ja hän tunsi ruumiissansa, että oli parantunut vaivastaan.

30. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

30. Ja heti kun Jeesus itsessään tunsi, että voimaa oli hänestä lähtenyt, kääntyi hän väkijoukossa ja sanoi: "Kuka koski minun vaatteisiini?"

31. And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

31. Niin hänen opetuslapsensa sanoivat hänelle: "Sinä näet kansanjoukon tungeskelevan ympärilläsi ja sanot: 'Kuka minuun koski?'"

32. And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

32. Mutta hän katseli ympärilleen nähdäksensä, kuka sen oli tehnyt.

33. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

33. Niin nainen pelkäsi ja vapisi, koska hän tiesi, mitä hänelle oli tapahtunut, ja tuli ja lankesi maahan hänen eteensä ja sanoi hänelle koko totuuden.

34. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

34. Mutta Jeesus sanoi hänelle: "Tyttäreni, sinun uskosi on tehnyt sinut terveeksi. Mene rauhaan ja ole terve vaivastasi."

35. While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's [house certain] which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

35. Hänen vielä puhuessaan tultiin synagoogan esimiehen kotoa sanomaan: "Tyttäresi kuoli; miksi enää opettajaa vaivaat?"

36. As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

36. Mutta Jeesus ei ottanut kuullakseen, mitä puhuttiin, vaan sanoi synagoogan esimiehelle: "Älä pelkää, usko ainoastaan."

37. And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

37. Ja hän ei sallinut kenenkään muun seurata mukanansa kuin Pietarin ja Jaakobin ja Johanneksen, Jaakobin veljen.

38. And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.

38. Ja he tulivat synagoogan esimiehen taloon; ja hän näki hälisevän joukon ja ääneensä itkeviä ja vaikeroivia.

39. And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

39. Ja käydessään sisään hän sanoi heille: "Mitä te hälisette ja itkette? Lapsi ei ole kuollut, vaan nukkuu."

40. And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.

40. Niin he nauroivat häntä. Mutta hän ajoi kaikki ulos ja otti mukaansa lapsen isän ja äidin sekä ne, jotka olivat hänen kanssaan, ja meni sisälle sinne, missä lapsi makasi.

41. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

41. Ja hän tarttui lapsen käteen ja sanoi hänelle: "Talita kuum!" Se on käännettynä: Tyttö, minä sanon sinulle, nouse.

42. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was [of the age] of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

42. Ja heti tyttö nousi ja käveli. Sillä hän oli kaksitoistavuotias. Ja he joutuivat suuren hämmästyksen valtaan.

43. And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

43. Ja hän kielsi ankarasti heitä antamasta kenellekään tietoa tästä ja käski antaa tytölle syötävää.
