Esther, 2

3. Let him appoint commissioners throughout the provinces of his realm to bring all the beautiful young virgins to the harem in Susa. Let them be put under the care of the royal eunuch Hegai, custodian of women, and let them be given ointments for beauty treatment.

Esther 2 tells how the Persian King Xerxes I seeks a new queen to replace Vasti, who was dismissed by disobedience. The most beautiful young people in the kingdom are selected for a beauty contest, of which the young Jew Esther comes out victorious and is chosen as queen.
