1 Maccabees, 3

13. Seron, the commander of the Syrian army, learned that Judas had gathered many men and that the whole community of believers was at his side.

1 Maccabees 3 narrates Judas Macabeu's first victories against the Greek forces, who tried to impose their culture and religion on the Jewish people. The chapter describes the Judas Army organization and its battle strategies. Next are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Maccabees 3:
