Genesis, 28

22. and this stone, which I have set up as a monument, will be called ‘the House of God.’ And from all the things that you will give to me, I will offer tithes to you.”

Genesis 28 reports the beginning of Jacob's journey, where he runs away from his brother Esau and has a meeting with God in a dream, receiving a promise of blessing. Psalm 139:7-10: "Where will I be absent from your Spirit? Where will I run out of your face? Dawn and I stop in the ends of the seas, still there will be to guide your hand, and your right hand will sustain me. This verse is a reference to Jacob's dream, where he saw a staircase that stretched from heaven to earth and the angels rising and down. He reminds us that Jesus is the ladder that leads us to heaven and that He is the connection between God and humanity.
