1. A memória de Josias é como uma composição de aromas preparada pelo perfumista.

1. The memory of Josias is like the composition of a sweet smell made by the art of a perfumer:

2. Em toda boca, sua lembrança é doce como o mel, como uma melodia em um festim regado de vinho.

2. His remembrance shall be sweet as honey in every mouth, and as music at a banquet of wine.

3. Foi divinamente destinado a levar o povo à penitência, e robusteceu a piedade numa época de pecado.

3. He was directed by God unto the repentance of the nation, and he took away the abominations of wickedness.

4. Voltou o coração para o Senhor e fez desaparecer as abominações da impiedade.

4. And he directed his heart towards the Lord, and in the days of sinners he strengthened godliness.

5. Exceto Davi, Ezequias e Josias, todos pecaram:

5. Except David, and Ezechias, and Josias, all committed sin.

6. os reis de Judá abandonaram a Lei do Altíssimo, e desprezaram o temor de Deus;

6. For the kings of Juda forsook the law of the most High, and despised the fear of God.

7. por isso, tiveram de entregar a outros o seu reino, e a sua glória a uma nação estrangeira.

7. So they gave their kingdom to others, and their glory to a strange nation.

8. Os inimigos queimaram a cidade eleita, a cidade santa, transformaram suas ruas em um deserto, conforme o que predissera Jeremias,

8. They burnt the chosen city of holiness, and made the streets thereof desolate according to the prediction of Jeremias.

9. pois eles maltrataram aquele que havia sido consagrado profeta desde o ventre de sua mãe, para derrubar, para destruir, para arruinar, mas depois reedificar e renovar.

9. For they treated him evil, who was consecrated a prophet from his mother's womb, to overthrow, and pluck up, and destroy, and to build again, and renew.

10. Foi Ezequiel quem teve essa visão gloriosa, que o Senhor lhe mostrou num carro de querubins.

10. It was Ezechiel that saw the glorious vision, which was shewn him upon the chariot of cherubims.

11. Pois ele anunciou com uma chuva a sorte dos inimigos, assim como os bens reservados àquele que seguiam o caminho reto.*

11. For he made mention of the enemies under the figure of rain, and of doing good to them that shewed right ways.

12. Quanto aos doze profetas, refloresçam os seus ossos em seus túmulos, pois fortaleceram Jacó, e redimiram-se da servidão por uma fé corajosa.*

12. And may the bones of the twelve prophets spring up out of their place: for they strengthened Jacob, and re- deemed themselves by strong faith.

13. Como engrandecer a glória de Zorobabel? Foi ele como um anel na mão direita.

13. How shall we magnify Zorobabel? for he was as a signet on the right hand;

14. Do mesmo modo Josué, filho de Josedec; eles que, em seus dias, reconstruíram a casa de Deus, e tornaram a levantar o Templo Santo do Senhor, destinado a uma glória eterna.

14. In like manner Jesus the son of Josedec? who in their days built the house, and set up a holy temple to the Lord, prepared for everlasting glory.

15. Neemias viverá por longo tempo na recordação; ele reergueu nossas muralhas arruinadas, restabeleceu nossas portas e nossos trincos, e reedificou nossas casas.

15. And let Nehemias be a long time remembered, who raised up for us our walls that were cast down, and set up the gates and the bars, who rebuilt our houses.

16. Ninguém nasceu no mundo comparável a Henoc, pois ele também foi arrebatado desta terra;*

16. No man was born upon earth like Henoch: for he also was taken up from the earth.

17. nem comparável a José, nascido para ser o príncipe de seus irmãos e o sustentáculo de sua raça, o governador de seus irmãos, e o esteio de seu povo.

17. Nor as Joseph, who was a man born prince of his brethren, the support of his family, the ruler of his brethren, the stay of the people:

18. Seus ossos foram conservados com cuidado: depois de sua morte fizeram profecia.

18. And his bones were visited, and after death they prophesied.

19. Set e Sem foram glorificados entre os homens, porém, acima de qualquer ser vivo da Criação, acha-se Adão.

19. Seth and Sem obtained glory among men: and above every soul Adam in the beginning.
