Ezra, 10

16. The exiles did as had been proposed. And the priest Ezra selected the family heads of the various families, all of them by name, who began their sittings on the first day of the tenth month to look into the matter.

Deuteronomy 7:3-4: "Do not be united in marriage with them, and do not allow your children to marry their children, for they would deviate them to worship other gods. Ezra 9:2: "They brought some of their daughters like wives to their children, and so the Holy Race was mixed with the foreign peoples who lived in that land. This verse talks about the importance of marrying people who share the same faith and values, which is related to the theme of Ezra 10, as Jewish leaders were exhorted to divorce from foreign women and seek reconciliation with God.
