Chapter 5 of Ephesians deals with Christian conduct in relation to love, purity and submission. Proverbs 10:19: "Not much to speak is not lacking transgression, but what moderates the lips is prudent." This verse emphasizes the importance of moderation in words, something Paul also addresses in Ephesians 5:4. He warns Christians so that they do not speak corrupted, obscene or foolish words, but to say what is good and edifying to others.
Colossians 3:18: "You, women, submit to your husbands, as it suits the Lord." As with Ephesians 5, Paul instructs women to submit to their husbands in a loving and voluntary way. He points out that this submission is a way of honoring Christ and contributing to unity in marriage.

Romans 12:5: "So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, but individually we are members of each other." Paul urges Christians in Ephesians 5:21 to subject each other in the fear of Christ, recognizing that they are all members of the same body.
