Apocalypse, 1

1. Révélation de Jésus-Christ, que Dieu lui a confiée pour découvrir à ses serviteurs les événements qui doivent arriver bientôt; et qu'il a fait connaître, en l'envoyant par son ange, à Jean, son serviteur,

1. The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to show his servants what must happen soon. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

2. qui a attesté la parole de Dieu et le témoignage de Jésus-Christ en tout ce qu'il a vu.

2. who gives witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he saw.

3. Heureux celui qui lit et ceux qui entendent les paroles de cette prophétie, et qui gardent les choses qui y sont écrites, car le temps est proche !

3. Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.

4. Jean aux sept Eglises qui sont en Asie : grâce et paix vous soient données de la part de Celui qui est, qui était et qui vient, et de la part des sept esprits qui sont devant son trône, et de la part de Jésus-Christ;

5. c'est le Témoin fidèle, le Premier-né d'entre les morts et le Prince des rois de la terre.

5. and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

6. A celui qui nous a aimés, qui nous a lavés de nos péchés par son sang, et qui nous a faits rois et prêtres de Dieu, son Père, à lui la gloire et la puissance des siècles des siècles ! Amen !

6. who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever (and ever). Amen.

7. Le voici qui vient sur les nuées. Tout oeil le verra, et ceux même qui l'ont percé; et toutes les tribus de la terre se frapperont la poitrine en le voyant. Oui. Amen !

8. "Je suis l'alpha et l'oméga " [le commencement et la fin], dit le Seigneur Dieu, celui qui est, qui était et qui vient, le Tout-Puissant.

8. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty."

9. Moi Jean, votre frère, qui participe avec vous, à l'affliction, à la royauté et à la patience en Jésus [-Christ], j'étais dans l'île appelée Patmos, à cause de la parole de Dieu et du témoignage de Jésus.

9. I, John, your brother, who share with you the distress, the kingdom, and the endurance we have in Jesus, found myself on the island called Patmos because I proclaimed God's word and gave testimony to Jesus.

10. Je fus ravi en esprit le jour du Seigneur, et j'entendis derrière moi une voix forte, comme une trompette, qui disait :

10. I was caught up in spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a voice as loud as a trumpet,

11. "Ce que tu vois, écris-le dans un livre, et envoie-le aux sept Eglises qui sont en Asie : à Ephèse, à Smyrne, à Pergames, à Thyatire, à Sardes, à Philadelphie et à Laodicée."

11. which said, "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea."

12. Alors je me retournai pour voir quelle était la voix qui me parlait ; et quand je me fus retourné, je vis sept chandeliers d'or,

12. Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me, and when I turned, I saw seven gold lampstands

13. et, au milieu des chandeliers, quelqu'un qui ressemblait à un fils d'homme; il était vêtu d'une longue robe, portait à la hauteur des seins une ceinture d'or;

13. and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, wearing an ankle-length robe, with a gold sash around his chest.

14. sa tête et ses cheveux étaient blancs comme de la laine blanche, comme de la neige, et ses yeux étaient comme une flamme de feu ;

14. The hair of his head was as white as white wool or as snow, and his eyes were like a fiery flame.

15. ses pieds étaient semblables à de l'airain qu'on aurait embrasé dans une fournaise, et sa voix était comme la voix des grandes eaux.

15. His feet were like polished brass refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing water.

16. Il tenait dans sa main droite sept étoiles; de sa bouche sortait un glaive aigu, à deux tranchants, et son visage était comme le soleil lorsqu'il brille dans sa force.

16. In his right hand he held seven stars. A sharp two-edged sword came out of his mouth, and his face shone like the sun at its brightest.

17. Quand je le vis, je tombai à ses pieds comme mort; et il posa sur moi sa main droite, en disant :

17. When I caught sight of him, I fell down at his feet as though dead. He touched me with his right hand and said, "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last,

18. " Ne crains point; je suis le Premier et le Dernier, et le Vivant ; j'ai été mort, et voici que je suis vivant aux siècles des siècles ;

18. the one who lives. Once I was dead, but now I am alive forever and ever. I hold the keys to death and the netherworld.

19. je tiens les clefs de la mort et de l'enfer. Ecris donc les choses que tu as vues, et celles qui sont, et celles qui doivent arriver ensuite,

19. Write down, therefore, what you have seen, and what is happening, and what will happen afterwards.

20. le mystère des sept étoiles que tu as vues dans ma main droite, et les sept chandeliers d'or. Les sept étoiles sont les anges des sept Eglises, et les sept chandeliers sont sept Églises. "

20. This is the secret meaning of the seven stars you saw in my right hand, and of the seven gold lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
