Proverbios, 21

1. Corriente de agua es el corazón del rey en la mano de Yahveh, que él dirige donde quiere.

1. The king's heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

2. Al hombre le parecen rectos todos sus caminos, pero es Yahveh quien pesa los corazones.

2. Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

3. Practicar la justicia y la equidad, es mejor ante Yahveh que el sacrificio.

3. To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

4. Ojos altivos, corazón arrogante, antorcha de malvados, es pecado.

4. An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.

5. Los proyectos del diligente, todo son ganancia; para el que se precipita, todo es indigencia.

5. The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.

6. Hacer tesoros con lengua engañosa, es vanidad fugitiva de quienes buscan la muerte.

6. The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

7. La violencia de los malos los domina, porque se niegan a practicar la equidad.

7. The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

8. Tortuoso es el camino del hombre criminal, pero el puro es recto en sus obras.

8. The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.

9. Mejor es vivir en la esquina del terrado, que casa en común con mujer litigiosa.

9. [It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

10. El alma del malvado desea el mal, su vecino no halla gracia a sus ojos.

10. The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

11. Cuando se castiga al arrogante, el simple se hace sabio; cuando se instruye al sabio, adquiere ciencia.

11. When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

12. El Justo observa la casa del malvado, y arroja a los malvados a la desgracia.

12. The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.

13. Quien cierra los oídos a las súplicas del débil clamará también él y no hallará respuesta.

13. Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

14. Regalo a escondidas, aplaca la cólera, y obsequio oculto, la ira violenta.

14. A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

15. Alegría para el justo es el cumplimiento de la justicia, pero horror para los que hacen el mal.

15. [It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.

16. El hombre que se aparta del camino de la prudencia reposará en la asamblea de las sombras.

16. The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

17. Se arruina el hombre que ama el placer, no será rico el aficionado a banquetes.

17. He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

18. Rescate del justo es el malo, y en lugar de los rectos, el traidor.

18. The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

19. Mejor es habitar en el desierto que con mujer litigiosa y triste.

19. [It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

20. Tesoro precioso y aceite en la casa del sabio, pero el hombre necio los devora.

20. [There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

21. Quien va tras la justicia y el amor hallará vida, justicia y honor.

21. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

22. El sabio escala la ciudad de los fuertes, y derriba la fortaleza en que confiaban.

22. A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

23. El que guarda su boca y su lengua, guarda su alma de la angustia.

23. Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

24. Al insolente y altivo se le llama: «arrogante»; actúa en el exceso de su insolencia.

24. Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

25. El deseo del perezoso le lleva a la muerte, porque sus manos rehúsan el trabajo.

25. The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

26. Todo el día está el malo codicioso; pero el justo da sin rehusar jamás.

26. He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

27. El sacrificio de los malos es abominable, sobre todo si se ofrece con mala intención.

27. The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

28. El testigo falso perecerá, el hombre que escucha, por siempre podrá hablar.

28. A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

29. El hombre malo se muestra atrevido, el recto afianza su camino.

29. A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.

30. No hay sabiduría, ni hay prudencia ni hay consejo, delante de Yahveh.

30. [There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

31. Se prepara el caballo para el día del combate, pero la victoria es de Yahveh.

31. The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
