II Reyes, 12

1. Siete años tenía Joás cuando comenzó a reinar.

1. In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Zibiah of Beersheba.

2. El año séptimo de Jehú comenzó a reinar Joás y reinó cuarenta años en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre era Sibía de Berseba.

2. And Jehoash did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

3. Joás hizo lo recto a los ojos de Yahveh todos los días, porque el sacerdote Yehoyadá le había instruido.

3. But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

4. Sólo que los altos no desaparecieron y el pueblo siguió ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en los altos.

4. And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, [even] the money of every one that passeth [the account], the money that every man is set at, [and] all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

5. Joás dijo a los sacerdotes: «Todo el dinero de las ofrendas sagradas que ha entrado en la Casa de Yahveh, el dinero de las tasas personales, todo el dinero que ofrece el corazón de cada uno a la Casa de Yahveh,

5. Let the priests take [it] to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

6. lo tomarán los sacerdotes, cada uno en el círculo de sus amistades, y ellos proveerán a las reparaciones de la Casa, en todo lo que deba ser reparado».

6. But it was [so, that] in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

7. Pero en el año veintitrés del rey Joás los sacerdotes no habían hecho las reparaciones de la Casa.

7. Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the [other] priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no [more] money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

8. Llamó entonces el rey Joás al sacerdote Yehoyadá y a los sacerdotes y les dijo: «¿Por qué no hacéis las reparaciones de la Casa? Así que no recibiréis el dinero de vuestras amistades, sino que lo daréis para la reparación de la Casa.»

8. And the priests consented to receive no [more] money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.

9. Los sacerdotes consintieron en no tomar dinero del pueblo ni hacer reparaciones en la Casa.

9. But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money [that was] brought into the house of the LORD.

10. El sacerdote Yehoyadá tomó un cofre, hizo un agujero en la tapa y lo puso junto a la estela, a la derecha según se entra en la Casa de Yahveh, y los sacerdotes que custodiaban el umbral depositaban en él todo el dinero ofrecido a la Casa de Yahveh.

10. And it was [so], when they saw that [there was] much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.

11. Cuando veían que había mucha plata en el cofre subía el secretario del rey y el sumo sacerdote, se fundía, y se contaba la plata que se hallaba en la Casa de Yahveh.

11. And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,

12. Entregaban el dinero contado en manos de los que hacían el trabajo, los encargados de la Casa de Yahveh; éstos lo empleaban en los carpinteros y constructores que trabajaban en la Casa de Yahveh,

12. And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair [it].

13. los albañiles y canteros, para comprar maderas y piedra de cantería para hacer reparaciones en la Casa de Yahveh y para cuanto había que reparar en la Casa.

13. Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money [that was] brought into the house of the LORD:

14. Pero no se hacían para la Casa de Yahveh ni fuentes de plata, ni cuchillos, ni acetres, ni trompetas, ni objetos de oro o plata con el dinero ofrecido a la Casa de Yahveh,

14. But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.

15. sino que se daba a los que hacían el trabajo de las reparaciones de la Casa de Yahveh.

15. Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

16. No se pedían cuentas a los hombres en cuyas manos se ponía el dinero para que lo dieran a los que hacían el trabajo, porque trabajaban con fidelidad.

16. The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.

17. El dinero por la expiación y el dinero por el pecado no era entregado a la Casa de Yahveh; era para los sacerdotes.

17. Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

18. Entonces Jazael, rey de Aram, subió para combatir contra Gat, la tomó y se volvió para subir contra Jerusalén.

18. And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold [that was] found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent [it] to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

19. Joás, rey de Judá, tomó todas las cosas sagradas que habían consagrado sus padres Josafat, Joram y Ocozías, reyes de Judá, todas las cosas que él mismo había consagrado y todo el oro que se pudo encontrar en los tesoros de la Casa de Yahveh y de la casa del rey, y lo mando a Jazael, rey de Aram, que se alejó de Jerusalén.

19. And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

20. El resto de los hechos de Joás, todo cuanto hizo ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Judá?

20. And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

21. Sus servidores se levantaron y tramaron una conjura y mataron a Joás en Bet Milló...

21. For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.

22. Le hirieron sus siervos Yozakar, hijo de Simat, y Yehozabad, hijo de Somer, y murió. Le sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David y reinó en su lugar su hijo Amasías.
