5. Then she gave her maid a bottle of wine, and a cruse of oil, and filled a bag with parched corn, and lumps of figs, and with fine bread; so she folded all these things together, and laid them upon her.

She deceived him with false stories about the people of Israel and gained his confidence. Then she drunk him and cut his head, giving Israel the victory. 1 Samuel 16:7: "The Lord does not see as man: man sees appearance, but the Lord sees the heart." This verse points out that outer beauty is not the most important, but the heart of the person.
