1 Chronicles, 19

17. And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set [the battle] in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

1 Chronicles 19 tells the history of war between David and the Ammonites. The chapter begins with David showing goodness to Hanum, son of the ammonite king, but Hanum insults him and humiliates him, which leads to war between the two peoples. David sends his generals to fight the Ammonites, and the battle unfolds. Here are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Chronicles 19:

Deuteronomy 20:4 - "For the Lord, your God, is what goes with you, to fight against your enemies to save you." This verse shows that David knew that God was with him in the battle against the Ammonites, and that gave him confidence to fight.

Psalm 23:4 - "Although I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, I won't fear any harm, because you are with me: Your stick and your staff comfort me." This verse shows that David trusted God even when he faced danger, and that God guided and protected him.

Proverbs 16:18 - "Superb precedes ruin, and the haughtiness of the Spirit precedes the fall." This verse is a lesson for Hanum, who proud and insulted David, leading to war between his peoples.

Isaiah 41:10 - "Do not fear, because I am with you, do not haunt yourself, because I am your God; I strengthen you, and help you, and I support you with my faithful right hand." This verse shows that God is always present to help and support those who trust in Him, like David.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 - "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not militate according to the flesh, because the weapons of our militia are not carnal, but powerful in God, to destroy the fortresses." This verse shows that David trusted God and his spiritual weapons to fight the ammonites, not in his own skills or physical strength.
