12. Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

12. "Take him and look after him; do him no harm but deal with him just as he tells you."

15. Now the word of Yahweh had come to Jeremiah while he was imprisoned in the Guards' Court:

16. Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be [accomplished] in that day before thee.

16. "Go and talk to Ebedmelek the Ethiopian: Tell him this word of Yahweh the God of hosts and the God of Israel: You see on that day that I am about to carry out what I have foretold in the past, disaster and not prosperity for this city.

17. But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou [art] afraid.

17. But I will save you on that day - word of Yahweh - and you will not be handed over to the men whom you fear. For I will certainly save you and you will not perish by the sword.

18. For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

18. You will be able to escape and live because you have trusted me - it is Yahweh who speaks."
