2 Corinthians, 13

10. Therefore I write these things, being absent, that, being present, I may not deal more severely, according to the power which the Lord hath given me unto edification, and not unto destruction.

2 Corinthians 13 is the final chapter of Paul's second letter to the Corinthians. In this chapter Paul rebukes those who question him, reminding them that he is an apostle of Jesus Christ and asking them to examine himself to see if they are really in faith. Romans 12:18: "If it is possible, how much it depends on you, tend peace with all men." Paul encourages Corinthians to live in peace with others, which is an important theme throughout chapter 13.

2 Corinthians 10:8: "For even though I glorie myself a little more of our power, which the Lord has given us for edification and not for your destruction, I will not embarrass myself." 1 Corinthians 11:28: "Examine man to himself, and thus eat this bread and drink from this chalice." This verse is related to the theme of examining yourself, which is emphasized in 2 Corinthians 13.

Philippians 2:12: "Thus, beloved from mine, but have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but much more in my absence, I developed your salvation with fear and tremor." Paul encourages Corinthians to strive for perfection, which is an important theme in 2 Corinthians 13.
