5. Thou knowest also what Joab the son of Sarvia hath done to me, what he did to the two captains of the army of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether: whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.

Chapter 2 of 1 kings deals with the death of King David and the succession of the throne by Solomon, his son. Proverbs 20:28: "Mercy and truth keep the king, and with mercy sustains his throne." Ecclesiastes 8:2: "Keep the king's commandment, and this because of God's oath." This verse talks about the importance of obeying the king, which was placed in power by God. Isaiah 11:3: and will delight in the fear of the Lord; and will not judge according to the view of his eyes, nor do he rebuke according to his ears. Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." This verse talks about the importance of placing God first and seeking His righteousness rather than seeking our own desires. This relates to Chapter 2 of 1 kings, where Solomon is instructed to obey God's commandments and to rule with righteousness.
