1 Maccabees, 7

18. Then fear and trembling hovered over all the people. For they said: “There is no truth or judgment among them. For they have transgressed the agreement and the oath that they swore.”

The seventh chapter of 1 Maccabees reports the battle between the armies of Judas Macabeus and the Antiochus King. During the fight, many Jews die and their bodies are dishonored by enemy soldiers.
