Genesis, 13

11. And Lot chose for himself the region around the Jordan, and he withdrew by way of the east. And they were divided, one brother from the other.

Genesis 13 tells the story of Abram and Lot separating, after becoming very rich in cattle and goods. Abram offered Lot the choice of place where they would settle, and Lot chose the fertile land of the Jordan Valley. Here are five verses related to the topics addressed in Genesis 13:

Genesis 12:7: "The Lord appeared to Abram and said, 'To your descent I will give this land.' There Abram built an altar dedicated to the Lord, who had appeared to him. Proverbs 18:24: "There are friends who lead to ruin, and there are friends closer than a brother." This verse talks about the importance of choosing good friends. In the story of Abram and Lot, we see that Lot's choice to settle in the Jordan Valley turned out to be bad for him and his family.
