Deuteronomy, 27

15. Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten idol, an abomination to the Lord, a work of the hands of its maker, and who puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall respond by saying: Amen.

Deuteronomy 27 is a chapter that presents instructions on the ceremony of consecration of God's law in the promised land. The people of Israel should perform this ceremony when entering the earth that God had promised them. The ceremony consisted of writing the law on large stones and erecting an altar to the Lord. Half of the people should stand on Mount Gerizim, and the other half should stay on Mount Ebal, while the priests gave blessings and curses. Deuteronomy 6:6-9: "These words that I command today will be in your heart. You will teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you are sitting at your home, when you are walking the way, when you lie down and when you get up .
