2 Corinthians 3:6: "He has enabled us to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens." This verse highlights the difference between the new covenant established by Jesus Christ and the old law based on the law. The new covenant is governed by the Spirit, while the old covenant was governed by the letter of the law.
Jeremiah 31:31: "Time is coming," says the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the community of Israel and the community of Judah." This verse is quoted in Hebrews 8:8-12 to show that the new covenant established by Jesus Christ was prophesied by the prophet Jeremiah. This new covenant is superior to the old covenant established with Israel.

This verse points out that the death of Jesus Christ was the price paid to establish the new covenant and fulfill divine promises. Through it, those who are called can receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
