13. And say ye to Amasa, [Art] thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

2 Samuel 19 describes David's restoration as king of Israel after Absalom's death. The chapter begins with David's pain and mourning for his son's death and then presents David's meeting with his followers and Israeli leaders. Psalm 30:5: "For your wrath lasts only a moment; in your favor is life. Crying can last a night, but joy comes in the morning." This psalm expresses David's confidence in the restoration of joy and the renewal of life after a period of sadness and pain.

Psalm 51:12: "Return the joy of your salvation, and sustain me with a voluntary spirit." David asks God to restore him and renew him in his spirit after his sin with Bathsheba and the death of Uriah.
