1 Chronicles 17 tells the story of how King David wished to build a temple for God, but God promised to establish David's dynasty forever and that his son would build the temple. David then thanks God for his goodness and promise.

1 Kings 8:20-21: "The Lord fulfilled the word that spoke. I succeeded David, my Father, and settled on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and built a temple in honor of the name of the Lord, God of Israel." This verse shows how Solomon, son of David, built the temple his father wanted to build.

2 Samuel 7:13-14: "He will be a temple in honor of my name, and I will establish his throne forever. I will be his father and he will be my son. When he err, I will punish him with man's rod and men's whipping. " This verse shows God's promise to David, that his son would build the temple and that his dynasty would be established forever.

1 Chronicles 22:7-8: "My Son, I wanted to build a temple in honor of the name of the Lord, my God. But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'You poured a lot of blood and waged many wars. A temple in honor of my name, for it poured a lot of blood on earth before my eyes. " This verse shows how David was prevented by God from building the temple because of the bloodshed in wars.

Psalm 89:35-37: "In no way do I remove my faithfulness from David, nor will I break my covenant with Him. I will establish your descent forever and your throne, like the days of heaven." This verse speaks of God's faithfulness to his promise to establish David's dynasty forever.

Jeremiah 23:5: "Days will come, the Lord declares, in which I will raise a righteous descendant, a king who will reign with wisdom and do what is just and correct on earth." This verse speaks of the prophecy that Jesus, descended from David, would reign as a righteous and wise king.
