Exodus, 22

8. 'In every case of law-breaking involving an ox, donkey, animal from the flock, clothing or lost property of any sort, the ownership of which is disputed, both parties will lay their case before God. The party whom God pronounces guilty will pay back double to the other.

Deuteronomy 24:6 - "Thou shalt not take the hand of hand or sunshine, because that would be to take the debtor's own life." This verse addresses the question of the pledge, mentioned in Exodus 22:26-27, and highlights the importance of protecting the life and subsistence means of the debtors.

Proverbs 20:10 - "Two weights, two measurements, both are abominable to the Lord." This verse deals with the question of justice and equity in the application of the law, which is a recurring theme in Exodus 22.

Leviticus 19:13 - "Thou shalt not overwhelm thy neighbor, nor steal it; Thou shalt not retain the salary of the newspaper with you until the morning." This verse highlights the importance of treating workers with justice and paying them what is due to them, which is relevant to some laws in Exodus 22:10-15.

Proverbs 22:22-23 - "Do not steal to the poor, because he is poor, nor crushed to the afflicted at the door; for the Lord will defend his cause over your life." This verse addresses the issue of theft and exploitation of vulnerable, which is also addressed in Exodus 22:21-24.

Deuteronomy 22:1-4-"If you see the ox or sheep of your brother, you will not shy away from bringing them back; it will be your brother you have threaded; you will not shy away from doing the same with your donkey. [. ..] Don't bite in the ox when you thin. " These verses highlight the importance of community responsibility and animal care, themes that are relevant to some laws in Exodus 22:5-6 and 19.
