Genesis, 13

9. [Is] not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if [thou wilt take] the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if [thou depart] to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

Genesis 13 tells the story of Abram and Lot separating, after becoming very rich in cattle and goods. Abram offered Lot the choice of place where they would settle, and Lot chose the fertile land of the Jordan Valley. Here are five verses related to the topics addressed in Genesis 13:

Proverbs 18:24: "There are friends who lead to ruin, and there are friends closer than a brother." This verse talks about the importance of choosing good friends. In the story of Abram and Lot, we see that Lot's choice to settle in the Jordan Valley turned out to be bad for him and his family.

Matthew 6:33: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." This verse speaks of the importance of placing God first in our lives.
