Chapter 6 of the book of Exodus narrates the continuation of the conversation between God and Moses, in which God reaffirms his promise to free the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Moses then reports the divine message to the Israelites, but they do not believe him because of their affliction. Then the genealogy of Moses and Aaron is recorded. Here are five verses related to the topics addressed in Exodus 6:
Genesis 15:13-14: "Then the Lord said to Abram," Know certainly that your descendants will be foreigners in a country that is not theirs, and they will be enslaved and oppressed for four hundred years. But I will also judge the nation that will serve as slaves, and after that they will come out with great wealth. "This verse anticipates the fate of Abraham's descendants, who were enslaved in Egypt for 400 years before being released by God through Moses.
Deuteronomy 7:8: "But it was because the Lord loved them and kept the oath he made to his ancestors that he took them with a powerful hand and rescued them from slavery in Egypt." This verse highlights God's love for his people and faithfulness to his promise to free them from slavery.
Psalm 81:6-7: "I removed them from the oppressor's shoulders; their hands were released from the baskets of work. In their anguish, you cried for me and I delivered them, I answered them from the sacred hill, I saved them." This psalm reminds the people of Israel from the liberation that God gave them from Egypt and how he set them free from his oppression.
Isaiah 43:1-2: "But now, so says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: 'Don't be afraid, for I redeemed you; I called you by the name; you are My. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not flood you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not consume you. " This verse is a reminder of God's care for the people of Israel, even during the difficult times, and their promise to always be with them.
Jeremiah 32:20-21: "You have performed miracles and wonders in Egypt and realized them to this day, both in Israel and other people, and became famous. With your powerful hand and extended arm, you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. " This verse highlights the power of God and the liberation he has given to the people of Israel in Egypt, who continued to be remembered and celebrated.
