22. So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
Deuteronomy 29 deals with the renewal of the covenant between God and the people of Israel after the death of Moses. In this chapter Moses reminds the people all the blessings and curses that God had promised in the covenant, and urges them to remain faithful to it. For the Lord is His life, and He will give you many years in the earth who swore to give to his ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 1 Kings 8:61: "May your heart be entirely dedicated to the Lord, our God, to follow His decrees and obey His commandments, as today." This verse highlights the importance of total dedication to God and obedience to His will, fundamental to the covenant.
Jeremiah 31:31-33: "Days will come, declares the Lord, in which I will make a new covenant with Israel and Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with his ancestors when I took them by the hand to get them out of Egypt, for they broke my covenant, although I am their Lord. This is the covenant I will do with the community of Israel after those days, declares the Lord. I will put my law in their heart and write it in their hearts. God, and they will be my people. " This verse speaks of the promise of a new covenant between God and the people of Israel, which will be written in the hearts of the faithful and not just on stone tablets.
Matthew 26:28: "This is my blood, which ratifies the covenant, shed for many for the forgiveness of sins." This verse refers to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, which ratified a new covenant between God and humanity through the forgiveness of sins.
