Chapter 10 of 2 Chronicles narrates the story of how King Roban, Son of Solomon, became the king of Judah after his father's death. He is confronted by Jeroboam, leader of the Kingdom of Israel of the Northern, who asks Robano to reduce the tax burden imposed on the people. Revus refuses to do so, which leads to the division of the kingdom of Israel into two parts. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in 2 chronicles 10.
1 Kings 12:15: "Then the king did not hear the people; for this change came from the Lord, that the word that the Lord had spoken through Aeas, the Silonite, Jeroboam, son of Naters." This verse talks about how the division of the kingdom of Israel was prophesied by God. This shows that the division was not only a consequence of Rehoboam's actions, but also a part of the divine plan.
Proverbs 15:1: "The mild answer deflects the furor, but the word lasts raises anger." This verse emphasizes the importance of effective and kind communication. If Roban had responded to Jeroboam more mildly and compassively, the story may have been different.
Matthew 12:25: "But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said," Every kingdom divided against Himself is devastated; and every city or house divided against itself will not subsist. " This verse highlights how the division between the kingdom of Israel led to internal conflicts and the weakening of both parties. This shows that unity is important for the survival of a kingdom.
1 Samuel 8:7: "The Lord said to Samuel, Attends the voice of the people in all that tells you, for they have not rejected you, but they rejected me, so I do not reign over them." This verse is similar to the prophecy of 1 Kings 12:15, showing that the people's desire for a different leader was seen as a rejection of God as his king.
Galatians 5:14: "For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." This verse emphasizes the importance of love and empathy in dealing with other people. If Roban had loved his people and considered his needs, he could have avoided the division of the kingdom of Israel.
