1 Kings, 2

30. Benaiah went to the tent of the LORD and said to him, "The king says, 'Come out.'" But he answered, "No! I will die here." Benaiah reported to the king, "This is what Joab said to me in reply."

Chapter 2 of 1 kings deals with the death of King David and the succession of the throne by Solomon, his son. In this chapter David gives Solomon instructions on how he must behave as King and also orders some of his enemies to be punished. Following are five Bible verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Kings 2.

Psalm 72:1: "O God, give the King your judgments, and your righteousness to the Son of the King." This psalm talks about justice that must be exercised by kings and how they must govern with equity. This is relevant to chapter 2 of 1 kings, where David instructs Solomon to rule with justice and punish those who deserve to be punished.

Proverbs 20:28: "Mercy and truth keep the king, and with mercy sustains his throne." This proverb talks about how mercy and truth are important for a king to maintain the power and respect of the people.
