38. Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.
Psalm 105 is a song of praise that recalls God's wonders in favor of his people, from the choice of Abraham to the conquest of the promised land. The psalmist urges the people to always remember these wonders and to trust God in all the circumstances of life. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this Psalm:
Genesis 12:2-3: "I will make a great nation; I will bless you and enhance your name; and you, be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; the families of the earth ". This verse shows the beginning of the history of God's people, with the choice of Abraham and the promise that through it all nations would be blessed.
Exodus 6:6-7: "Therefore, say to the children of Israel, I am the Lord. I shall take you out of the charges of the Egyptians, and deliver you from their servitude; and I will rescue you with extended arm and great judgments. I shall take you through my people, and shall be your God; and you will know that I am the Lord your God, that I will take away from the charges of the Egyptians. " This verse refers to the time when God freed the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt, fulfilling their promise to take care of them and be their God.
Deuteronomy 8:3: "He humbled you, and let you hungry, and sustained you with manna, that you did not know, nor your parents knew him; to make you imply that man will not live only bread, but that of all that comes out of the mouth of the Lord will live man. " This verse resembles the time when God sustained the people in the desert with manna, teaching them to depend on him for all things.
1 Chronicles 16:8-9: "surrender thanks to the Lord, invoke His name, make known among the peoples His works. Sing, Sing Him praises, speak of all their wonders." This verse encourages people to praise God and tell their wonders to others, just as Psalm 105 does.
Isaiah 43:2: "When passing through the waters, I will be with you, and when through the rivers, they will not submerge you; when you pass through fire, you will not burn you, nor the flame will burn in you." This verse speaks of God's faithfulness to protect his people in all situations, just as He did in leading Israel through the desert and in conquering the promised land.
