St. Matthew 15 talks about the controversies between Jesus and the Pharisees regarding religious rituals and traditions. Jesus teaches that what contaminates man is not what goes through his mouth, but what comes out of it, that is, the words and actions. He criticizes the Pharisees for following human traditions over God's commandments.
Isaiah 29:13: "The Lord says, 'These people approach me with the mouth and honor me with the lips, but their hearts are far from me. The worship that gives me is made only of rules taught by men. '"This verse relates to Jesus' criticism of the Pharisees for following human traditions rather than God's commandments.
Isaiah 6:9-10: "The Lord said, 'Go and say to this people," Though you hear, you will never understand; Although they see, they will never realize. ”'This verse is quoted by Jesus when he explains why He speaks in parables, so that only those with spiritual ears can understand the truth.
Proverbs 4:23: "About all that should be kept, keep your heart, because they proceed with the sources of life." This verse relates to the idea that what contaminates man is not what goes through his mouth, but what comes out of it, that is, the words and actions that reflect what is in the heart.
Isaiah 35:5-6: "Then the eyes of the blind shall open and the ears of the deaf shall be open. This verse relates to the many miracles that Jesus performs in St. Matthew 15, healing the sick and the possessed.
Colossians 2:8: "Be careful that no one can enslave them empty and misleading philosophies that are based on human traditions and elementary principles of this world rather than based on Christ." This verse relates to Jesus' criticism of the Pharisees for following human traditions to the detriment of God's commandments.
