Judges, 6

13. Gideon answered, "Please, my lord, if Yahweh is with us, why is all this happening to us? Where are the wonders which our fathers recounted to us? Did they not say that Yahweh led them up from Egypt? Why has he abandoned us now and given us into the hands of the Midianites?"

Judges 6 tells the story of Gideon, a young man who was called by God to lead the Israelites in the fight against the Midianites. Gideon at first proved incredulous and asked God to prove his mission. God granted these proofs to Gideon, who finally gathered an army to face the Midianites. Here are five verses related to the topics covered in Judges 6, excluding verses from the chapter itself:

Genesis 15:6: "Abram believed in the Lord, and that was credited to him as justice." This verse speaks of the importance of faith in God, which is a central theme in judges 6. Gideon initially did not believe that God could use him to save the Israelites, but over time he learned to trust the Lord and believed in his word .

Exodus 3:11: "Who am I to appear before Pharaoh and take the Israelites out of Egypt?" This verse shows how often God's chosen ones feel inappropriate for the task assigned to them. Just as Moses doubted his ability to lead the Israelites, Gideon also questioned his ability to lead the Israelites against the Midianites.

Joshua 1:9: "Did I not have ordered you? Be strong and brave! Do not be terrified or discouraged, for the Lord, your God, will be with you where you walk." This verse is a message of God's encouragement to Joshua, who is about to lead the Israelites after the death of Moses. The message of courage and strength is a message similar to that God gave Gideon in judges 6.

2 Corinthians 12:9: "But he said to me, 'My grace is enough for you, for my power is perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will glory even more happily in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ rests on me. " This verse speaks of how God uses human weaknesses to demonstrate His power. Gideon was a weak and incapable man, but God used him to defeat the Midianites, thus showing his power and his grace.

1 Samuel 17:45: "David said to the Philistine, 'You come against me with a sword, spear and dart, but I go against you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the hosts of Israel, whom you challenged. '"This verse speaks of the importance of trusting God in times of difficulty. David trusted God to defeat Goliath, and Gideon also trusted God to lead the Israelites against the Midianites. Both men believed that God was with them and could do great things through Him.
