Jeremiah 13 describes the vision that God gave to Jeremiah of a spoiled linen belt that symbolized the infidelity of the people of Israel in relation to God. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter, in order of proximity to the themes:
Isaiah 1:18: "Come then, and argue me, says the Lord; even if your sins are like scarlet, they will become white like snow; the white wool. " This verse speaks of God's offering of forgiveness and purification to those who repent of their sins and turn to him.
Jeremiah 2:13: "For my people have committed two evils: They abandoned me the source of living water, and dug cisterns routes, cisterns that do not retain water." This verse speaks of the infidelity of the people of Israel to seek other sources of satisfaction and security rather than God.
Ezekiel 16:15-16: "But you trusted your beauty, and you prostituted you because of your fame, and shed your prostitution everywhere, and so you were possessed by all who passed; and you took from your dress , and you have made high places, embroidered of various colors, and you have prostituted over them; similar things did not happen, nor succeed. " This verse speaks of Israel's infidelity to seek attention and approval of others rather than trusting God.
Hosea 10:12: "Semeai to you in righteousness, I ran according to mercy; WASTING THE FIELD FIELD; For it is time to seek the Lord until it comes and raining justice upon you." This verse speaks of the importance of seeking God's righteousness and mercy rather than trusting in our own strengths and resources.
Romans 6:23: "For the salary of sin is death, but God's free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." This verse speaks of the consequences of sin and the offer of eternal life that God gives through Jesus Christ.
