Jeremiah, 48

2. There is no longer any rejoicing in Moab over Heshbon. They have devised evil. ‘Come and let us destroy it as a nation.’ Then you will be utterly silenced, and the sword will pursue you.

Jeremiah 48 describes the imminent destruction of Moab by the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, because of his arrogance and wickedness against God. The verses selected below describe the divine judgment on Moab, the lamentation of their people, and God's sovereignty over all nations.

Isaiah 16:6 - "We have heard of the superb of Moab, his arrogance and pride, his insolence and his empty brave." This verse refers to Moab's arrogant attitude, which led to his conviction and punishment.
