Exodus, 34

15. Make no pact with the inhabitants of the country or, when they prostitute themselves to their own gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will partake of their sacrifice,

Chapter 34 of Exodus relates the renewal of the covenant of God with Moses and the children of Israel after the Golden Calf episode. The chapter includes the proclamation of the commandments of the covenant, as well as instructions for the worship and observance of the Sabbath. Deuteronomy 7:9: "Know, therefore, that the Lord, His God, is God; He is the faithful God, who holds the covenant and goodness for a thousand generations of those who love and obey Him in their commandments."
