Chapter 12 of 1 kings describes the division of the kingdom of Israel after Solomon's death when his son Roban becomes king. The northern tribes rebel against Roban due to their refusal to relieve the heavy workload that their father had imposed on them. Jeroboam, who was a servant of Solomon, leads the rebellion and becomes the king of the Northern Kingdom, which is called Israel, while Roban rules the southern kingdom, called Judah. The following Bible verses are related to the topics addressed in 1 Kings 12:
1 Kings 11:11-13: "Then the Lord said to Solomon, For this in you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes that I have sent you, I will surely tear to you this kingdom, and I will give it to your servant. However, in your days I will not, for the sake of David, your father; from the hand of your son I will tear him. However I will not tear the whole house of David, but I will leave your son a tribe, for the sake of David, my servant, and For the sake of Jerusalem, which I elected. " This verse is a prophecy about the division of the kingdom after Solomon's death.
1 Kings 12:16: "Coming, therefore, all the Israel who was present, spoke to the king, saying, What part do we have with David?
