Numbers 35 talks about the distribution of the cities of the Levites and the creation of the cities of refuge to those who commit involuntary homicide. Deuteronomy 19:2-4: "Designate three cities for you in the midst of your land, that the Lord, your God, gives you to possess. Prepare the roads and divide into three parts the area of your land that the Lord, the Lord, Your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that any killer can escape to these cities. This is the legal procedure for the killers who run away and live: one who injured someone without intention should not be killed before having had a Judgment before the Assembly. " This verse relates to the creation of the cities of refuge mentioned in numbers 35 and describes the legal process to be followed for those who run away there.
Joshua 20:1-3: "Then the Lord said to Joshua, 'Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, which I told them through Moses, so that anyone who kills a man unintentionally can escape there and find Protection of the killer's revenge. He will run away to one of these cities and present his case at the doors of the city. Then the city will receive man and give him a place to live among them. '"This verse also relates to the creation of the cities of Refuge and describe how they were established as a place of protection for those who committed involuntary murder.
Deuteronomy 4:41-42: "Then Moses separated three cities east of Jordan, where the man who killed someone unintentionally and had no grudge from the dead man could escape. He could escape to one of these cities and save his own life." This verse refers to the creation of the cities of refuge and describes the location of the three cities that were established east of Jordan.
Proverbs 18:10: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to her and are safe." This verse can be applied to the theme of the cities of refuge, as they served as a safe place for those seeking protection against the revenge of the victim's Avengers.
