Ruth, 4

1. Meanwhile Boaz went to the town gate and sat there waiting for the closer relative about whom he had spoken to Ruth. When he saw him coming, he called him by name and said, "Come here and sit down." And so he did.

Ruth 4 narrates the outcome of the story of Ruth and Boaz, in which Boaz becomes the rescuer of Elimelech, Naomi's husband, and marries Ruth. In addition, the chapter shows the importance of compliance with the laws of redemption and inheritance in the Hebrew culture of the time.

Leviticus 25:25: "If your relative impoverishes and sell some part of your property, your nearest rescuer will come and buy what the relative sold." Matthew 1:5-6: "Salmon generated Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz generated obed, whose mother was Ruth, obeded generated Jesse." This verse shows the importance of Ruth's story in the genealogy of Jesus Christ, highlighting the relevance of Ruth's story to the Judeo-Christian tradition.
