Romans, 1

13. I want you to know, brethren, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles.

Romans 1 begins with a performance of Paul and his message to the church in Rome. He emphasizes God's righteousness and the need for all men to repent and believe in the Gospel. Following are five verses related to the topics addressed in Romans 1:

John 3:36: "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not believe in the Son shall not see life, but God's wrath upon him remains." This verse emphasizes the need to believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and the consequence for those who do not believe.

Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and deprived are of the glory of God." This verse emphasizes the condition of all human beings, who are sinners and cannot achieve the glory of God by their own merits.

Romans 5:8: "But God proves his own love to us, because Christ has died for us, we are still sinners." This verse highlights God's great proof of love by sending his son to die for us, even when we were sinners.

Romans 6:23: "For the salary of sin is death, but God's free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." This verse teaches that sin leads to death, but God offers the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace you are saved, through faith; and this does not come from you, it is the gift of God; it does not come from the works, so that no one can glorious." This verse emphasizes that salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, and not by the works of man.
