Psalms, 42

4. These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I went with the throng, and led them in procession to the house of God, with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.

Psalm 42 is a psalm of lamentation that expresses the sorrow and longing for the psalmist by the presence of God. He longs for God as a thirsty person longs for water. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 42:

Psalm 63:1: "O God, you are my God; I seek you intensely. My soul is thirsty for you! All my being longs for you, in a dry, exhausted and without water." This verse reflects the same intense search for God expressed by the psalmist in Psalm 42.

Psalm 63:6: "I remember you as I go to sleep; I meditate on you during the night vigils." This verse suggests that the search for God is constant, even during sleep and night.
