Judith, 8

11. They came to her house and she said to them, "Listen to me, you elders of Bethulia, for the words which you have spoken in front of the people today are not right. You did wrong to take an oath between God and yourselves, and to say that you would hand over the town to our enemies if, within a certain number of days, the Lord does not come to your help.

Judite 8 describes how Judith convinced the elders of her city to allow her to leave the city gates to surrender to the Assyrians. She used her wisdom and eloquence to persuade them that this was the only way to save the city. Then she went to the Assyrian camp, where General Holofernes deceived and cut her head, bringing the victory to Israel. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Judite 8:

Proverbs 16:32: "Better is the Longanic than the brave, and the one who rules his spirit than what a city takes." This verse emphasizes the importance of self -control, a quality that Judith demonstrated in carefully planning and executing his plan with patience and skill.
