Psalms, 44

Psalm 44 is a lamentation of the people of Israel, who feels abandoned by God and suffers constant defeats in battles. They recall the great works of God in the past, but now they are forgotten and rejected by Him. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 44:

Psalm 44:9: "But now you have rejected us and have made us embarrassed; I no longer come out ahead of our armies." In this verse, the writers of the Psalm express their sense of abandonment and rejection by God, and how he no longer leads his battles.

Psalm 44:23: "Wake up, Lord! Why do you sleep? Awaken! Don't reject us forever." Here, writers beg God to wake up from their apparent sleep and help them in their struggles.

Psalm 44:26: "Get up! Stock ourselves! I rescue us because of your faithfulness." This verse is an appeal for God to help Israel in His struggle and save them for His faithfulness.

Psalm 44:4: "You are my king and my God, who gives Jacob victory." Here, Psalm writers recognize God's greatness and his ability to give victory to the people of Israel.

Psalm 44:17: "All this came to us, although we have not forgotten or betrayed your covenant." In this verse, the people of Israel lament the fact that they are suffering despite having maintained their faithfulness to God and their covenant.
