1 Maccabees 9 describes the war between the armies of Judas Macabeu and Baquids, General of the Seleucid King. The chapter begins with a description of the Backet Strategy to attack Judas and his men, followed by a battle that occurs on a mountainous slope. Judas manages to repel the attack, but Báquids continues to chase him with his soldiers. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in 1 Maccabees 9:
2 Samuel 2:26: "Then Abner called Joab and said," Will the sword happen to devour indefinitely? Don't you know that in the end there will be bitterness? This verse addresses the theme of persecution, which is one of the main questions in chapter 9 of 1 Maccabees, where Baquids pursues Judas Macabeu and his men.
2 Chronicles 20:15: "He said unto him, Listen to me, all of Judah and Jerusalem, and you, O Jehoshaphat! Thus saith the Lord about you: You do not fear, nor are you scary because of this great multitude. ; for the battle is not yours, but of God. " This verse deals with the battle that occurs in 1 Maccabees 9 between the armies of Judas and Baquids. As in the verse of 2 chronicles, the battle of 1 Macabees is seen as a God -guided struggle.
Psalm 44:6: "I don't trust my bow, nor can my sword save me." This verse deals with the theme of confidence in weapons and physical strength. In 1 Maccabees 9, Judas Macabeu and his men are overcome by the soldiers of baquids, but trust God to help them overcome the battle.
Proverbs 24:6: "With wisdom, war is made; and with good advice wins." This verse deals with the theme of military strategy, which is an important element in the description of the battle in 1 Maccabees 9. Both Judas Macabeu and Basquids employ military strategies to try to overcome the battle.
Isaiah 54:17: "No weapon forged against you will prosper; and every language to rise against you in judgment, you thou shalt be condemned; this is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord, and His righteousness from me, says the Lord. " This verse deals with the theme of Divine Protection, which is an important element in 1 Maccabees 9. Both sides trust God to protect them in battle.
