Joshua chapter 11 reports the conquest of several Cananite cities by the army of Israel, led by Joshua. The kings of these cities united their forces to resist the invasion of Israel, but were defeated and their territories were conquered. Deuteronomy 7:2: "And when the Lord your God surrender before you, then you will hurt them and to destroy them totally; thou shalt not make a covenant with them, and shall have mercy to them." This verse speaks of God's command for the Israelites to completely destroy the Cananites and make no covenant with them. This order was fulfilled in the conquest of Canaan by Joshua and his army.

Psalm 44:3: "For not by his sword they conquered the earth, nor his arm saved them, but it was your right, your arm and the light of your face, because you pleased with them." This verse speaks of the dependence of the Israelites in God to conquer the land of Canaan. It was by God's will and his intervention that Joshua and his army managed to defeat the Cananites.

Psalm 121:8: "The Lord will keep your departure and your entrance from now on and forever." This verse speaks of God's protection about those who trust in Him. Joshua and his army had the protection of God during the conquest of Canaan.

2 Samuel 22:47: "Long live the Lord, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation." This verse speaks of worship and gratitude to God for His salvation. The Israelites could worship and thank God for the victory in the conquest of Canaan.
