34. When he had read it and asked to what province he belonged, and learned that he was from Cilicia,
Chapter 23 Acts of the Apostles narrates the continuation of the persecution suffered by Paul after his preaching in Jerusalem. He appears before the Sanhedrin and makes his defense, but is attacked by the Sadducees and needs to be protected by the Roman soldiers. Paul is transferred to Caesarea to protect him from the Jews who wanted to kill him. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:
Psalm 27:1: "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom will I be afraid of? Is the Lord the refuge of my life; whom will I fear?" This psalm talks about trusting the Lord in the midst of difficult times and seeking refuge in it.
Psalm 31:15: "My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies and those who persecute me." This verse is an appeal to God to protect the psalmist from his enemies.
Proverbs 19:21: "Many are the plans in the heart of man, but the purpose of the Lord will prevail." This proverb highlights God's sovereignty about the plans of men and how he can transform difficult situations to fulfill his purpose.
Jeremiah 1:8: "Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to protect you," says the Lord. "This is a message of God's encouragement to Jeremiah, who called Him to be a prophet in difficult times.
Romans 8:28: "We know that God acts in all things for the good of those who love Him, of those who were called according to their purpose." This verse talks about how God can use all things, even the difficult ones, to fulfill His purpose in our lives.
