Psalm 107 is a hymn of thanks to God for his kindness and mercy to rescue those who call for help in situations of distress. The psalmist describes four situations where people call for help: dangers in the desert, prison, illness and storm at sea. In each situation, the people cry out for help and God rescues them. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 107:
Isaiah 61:1: "The Spirit of the Sovereign, the Lord, is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He sent me to take care of those who have a broken heart, announce freedom to captives and liberation from darkness to prisoners. " This verse talks about Christ's mission on earth, which was to free the captives and take care of those with a broken heart, like those who call for help in the situations described in Psalm 107.
Psalm 18:16-17: "He reached out and held me; he took me out of deep waters. He delivered me from my powerful enemy, my opponents, who were stronger than me." This verse talks about God rescuing the psalmist from certain death, just as He rescues those who call for help in danger situations, such as the storm in the sea described in Psalm 107.
Psalm 30:2-3: "O Lord my God, I cry out for you for help, and you heal me. This verse talks about God healing those who call for help in illness situations, as described in Psalm 107.
Isaiah 43:19: "I'm going to do something new, right now will it sprout. Don't you notice it? This verse talks about God by making a way where there was no, just as He guides and saves those who claim for help in danger situations in the desert, as described in Psalm 107.
Psalm 146:7-8: "He does justice to the oppressed and give bread to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners." This verse talks about God releasing those who are arrested, as described in the imprisonment situation in Psalm 107.
