Chapter 9 of St. Luke begins with Jesus by sending his twelve disciples to preach the Kingdom of God and to perform healing and miracles in his name. He later feeds five thousand people with only five breads and two fish, reveals to his disciples that he will suffer and be killed, and teaches about the importance of humility and commitment to him. Matthew 10:1 - "Calling their twelve disciples gave them authority to expel filthy spirits and heal all diseases and diseases." This verse is similar to the mission that Jesus gave to his disciples in Luke 9:1-2, where he gives them power and authority to heal and expel demons in his name.
