Jeremiah chapter 16 speaks about God's command so that Jeremiah will not marry or have children, for there will be great destruction and death in Judah and there will be no reason to celebrate life. God also talks about how he will punish Judah for his sins and how his suffering will be great. Following are five verses related to the topics addressed in Jeremiah 16:
Isaiah 13:9: "Behold, the day of the Lord comes, horrendous, with fury and ardent wrath, to make the earth in the sillow and to exterminate sinners." This verse talks about how God will punish sinners and destroy the earth.
Ezekiel 7:19: "They shall cast silver on the streets, and gold will be considered as a filthy thing. On the day of the wrath of the Lord, it will not satisfy, nor do it make it yield its gold; for it will serve as occasion of sin." This verse talks about how wealth will have no value in the day of God's wrath and can be a cause of sin.
Psalm 78:31: "It was then that the wrath of God rose, because they killed many of his chosen ones, and wounded his elect." This verse talks about how God has outed with the people of Israel for their sins and infidelity.
Hosea 4:6: "My people are being destroyed, because you lack knowledge. Because you, priest, have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may not be a priest before me; God, I will also forget your children. " This verse talks about how God's lack of knowledge can lead to the destruction of the people.
Zechariah 7:12: "They made their hard hearts as a diamond, so as not to hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent for His Spirit through the ancient prophets, so came the great wrath of the Lord of hosts . " This verse talks about how resistance to God's words can lead to God's wrath and its punishment.
